Job Posting: Economic Researcher Position: Full-time Researcher, Economics and Energy Unit

Al Habtoor Research Centre (AHRC) is seeking a highly qualified economic researcher to join the Economics and Energy Unit on a full-time basis. The role involves contributing to ongoing projects and analyses at AHRC headquarters, as well as supporting the AHRC team in producing high-quality research outputs.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Conduct thorough analyses and studies and prepare well-documented research papers and reports following scientific methodologies. Utilise modern quantitative research approaches and methods.
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, patterns, and relationships between variables.
  • Compile research findings into reports or presentations easily understandable by policymakers or the general public.
  • Stay updated on regional and international economic policy developments, analysing their implications for the region and globally.
  • Conduct economic analyses of current issues, conclude, and make quantitative predictions. Provide actionable recommendations based on findings to decision makers in both public and private sectors.
  • Propose specific and creative recommendations to leverage political or economic opportunities or address challenges tailored to decision-makers in the public and private sectors.
  • Monitor, cover, and analyse emerging issues and transformations in the current economic landscape. Evaluate their current and future implications in a flexible and creative manner.
  • Represent AHRC at internal and external events and meetings.
  • Perform other research and administrative tasks assigned by the AHRC’s senior management.

Qualifications

The applicant must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in economics or a related field.
  • Have an average of five years of experience in the research field or related areas (such as think tanks, research, and academic institutions).
  • Possess research and analytical skills, including proficiency in basic mathematical, economic, and statistical analysis programs (e.g., Excel, STATA, EViews, SPSS).
  • Be proficient in Arabic and English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of economic theory, the relationships among key variables in macro and international economics, and key stakeholders in energy markets and regional/international finance.
  • Possess strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Be capable of multitasking and performing well under pressure.
