Job Opening: Senior Early Warning Researcher   Position: Full-time Senior Researcher, Early Warning Unit

Al Habtoor Research Centre (AHRC) is seeking to appoint a senior researcher in the Early Warning Unit. The ideal candidate will be proficient in scientific research, analysis, and forecasting and have comprehensive knowledge of early warning methodologies and future studies. This is a full-time position based at AHRC headquarters, where the senior researcher will collaborate with AHRC’s team to produce high-quality research and studies that support AHRC’s goals.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead research initiatives in future studies and early warning studies.
  • Participate in developing the centre’s annual work plan and designing the outputs issued by the Early Warning Unit.
  • Cooperate with the AHRC’s team of researchers in preparing quantitative and qualitative research and developing methodologies.
  • Write studies, policy papers, reports, and analyses, and review and audit their content in accordance with scientific research methodologies and standards.
  • Oversee the writing and dissemination of reports, analyses, and data, ensuring the highest standards of quality and objectivity.
  • Mentor and support junior researchers, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.
  • Represent AHRC at internal and external events and meetings.
  • Perform other research and administrative tasks assigned by AHRC’s senior management.

Qualifications

The applicant must:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, or a related field (priority given to higher degrees and additional certificates relevant to early warning and future studies).
  • Have an average of seven years of experience in research or a related field (such as think tanks, research, and academic institutions).
  • Be proficient in Arabic and English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Be skilled in scientific research methodologies and risk anticipation techniques.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of political, economic, and social interactions at regional and global levels.
  • Possess strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Be capable of multitasking and performing well under pressure.
