Maries is a researcher at the Political Studies Program. Before joining Al-Habtoor Research Centre, she was a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at the Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Centre, a Policy Analyst at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and a Project Manager at the National Institute for Governance. She developed special interest in sustainable development, governance and designing impactful social projects and initiatives.

Maries is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Cairo University, focusing on the impact of data governance on public value. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in Economics.

Her research interests encompass development issues, climate change, political sociology and transnational threats.
