Dr. Mohamed Shadi

Dr. Mohamed Shadi has a PhD in Economics and Public Finance and a master’s degree in International Law. He is a teacher of Political Economy at the National Training Academy (NTA) of the Presidency of the Arab Republic of Egypt, a teacher of Transport and Energy Economics at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AAST) of the Arab League, a political economy expert at the Egyptian Centre for Strategic Studies (ECSS), and a columnist for several Egyptian newspapers.   He has ten years of expertise in political economy and energy economics and has undertaken several studies in both and has provided decision-makers with several policy papers and alternatives.

Pacinte Abdel-Fattah

Pacinte Abdel-Fattah serves as the Head of the Economics Unit at the Al Habtoor Research Centre, bringing extensive expertise in strategic policy oversight and high-level macro-economic analysis. Prior to her current role, she shaped national-level policy frameworks at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, serving as a Senior Economic Researcher and Assistant to the Minister within the Technical Office. During her tenure, she directed critical research initiatives, evaluated strategic insights from international institutions, and was a key contributor to institutional decision-making. Notably, she led the formulation of economic policy memorandums directly presented to the Prime Minister. Her executive research agenda spans global macroeconomics, political economy, investment frameworks, international trade, and the evolving digital economy. Pacinte holds an M.A. in International Business Law from Montreal University and a B.Sc. in Law from Ain-Shams University in Egypt.

Mostafa Ahmed

Mostafa’s research and writings focus on regional and international security, while his contributions deal primarily with gulf security, conflict resolution, and negotiations. His research has supported decision-makers in across multiple governmental bodies.   Prior to joining Al Habtoor Research Centre, Mostafa was a lecturer of International Relations at Mongolia International University. He obtained his first master’s degree in International Relations from Porto University, and obtained his second master’s degree from Korea Development Institute (KDI), one of the leading think tanks in Asia.

Ahmed El-Saeid

Ahmed El-Saeid is Head of the Early Warning Unit in the Foresight and Early Warning Programme, which focuses on monitoring and forecasting geopolitical threats and social and technological conflicts and transformations.   Prior to joining Al Habtoor Research Centre, he served as an Economist at the Central Bank of Egypt in the Macro-Prudential department, where he conducted research on Egypt’s industrial sectors and their exposure to economic shocks in addition to the analysis of the domestic credit environment. He contributed to the CBE’s annual Financial Stability Report. He also worked at Delta Research Center as a Political and Economic Researcher and interned at the World Bank in the Office of the Vice President.   Ahmed holds a B.A. in Economics with a minor in History from the American University in Cairo. His research interests include technological transformations' economic, political and social effects and monitoring, analysing and managing the global economy’s risks.

Habiba Diaaeldin

Habiba Diaaeldin is the Head of the Foresight Unit within the Foresight and Early Warning Programme at Al Habtoor Research Centre (AHRC) . She leads research on strategic foresight, horizon scanning, geopolitical risk, and scenario planning, with a focus on identifying emerging global trends and translating complex political, economic, technological, and security developments into actionable insights for policymakers and decision-makers.   She holds a joint M.Sc. in EuroSud (South European Studies) from the University of Glasgow, the Autonomous University of Madrid, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Prior to joining AHRC, she attended the Research Winter School at the Instituto de Ciências Sociais of the University of Lisbon and worked as a research assistant at the ENA Institute for Alternative Policies in Athens.   Her research interests include strategic foresight, geopolitical risk, international security, emerging technologies, global governance, demographic change, and the evolving strategic dynamics of the Middle East, Europe, and the wider international order. She is fluent in Arabic and English and has working knowledge of Spanish

Sherif Amin

Sherif Amin is an Political and Security Studies Researcher at Al Habtoor Research Centre.   He is currently a PhD Candidate nearing the completion of his doctoral studies at SOAS, University of London. He holds a MRes in International Relations from Queen Mary University of London and a MSc in International Politics from SOAS, University of London. Prior to joining the Centre, he served as a Senior Analyst at the MEA Institute for Strategic Studies’ Middle East Programme. He interned as a Research Assistant at the Middle East Institute in Washington DC as well as the Institute of International Relations Prague.   His research interests include the international relations of the MENA region, Middle East politics, and US foreign policy in the MENA region.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Economics from Cairo University and completed part of her undergraduate studies at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom. She is currently pursuing an MSc in International Political Economy at Cairo University. Her professional experience spans political analysis, policy research, strategic foresight, and youth-focused development initiatives. Her research interests include international relations, strategic foresight, geopolitical risk, AI governance, and the impact of emerging technologies on global politics.

Farah Aburaya

Farah Aburaya is a Political and Security Studies Researcher at Al Habtoor Research Centre. She holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University. Before joining the Centre, she worked as a Political Researcher at InterRegional for Strategic Analysis and served as a Teaching Assistant in Political Science at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). Her research focuses on geopolitical transformations, great-power competition, and the strategic affairs of Russia, China, and the Middle East.

Farah El-Komy

Farah El-Komy is a Foresight and Early Warning Researcher at Al Habtoor Research Centre.   Prior to joining Al Habtoor Research Centre, she interned at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), focusing on projects related to private sector development, financial modeling, and investment. Prior to the IFC Farah participated at the Model Arab League Simulation on the Arab League as a researcher.   Farah holds a B.A. in Economics from The British University in Egypt and London South Bank University and is interested in strategic and economic foresight, geopolitical risk, and international economic relations.
