Al Habtoor Research Centre (AHRC) is establishing a dynamic research hub in Budapest, Hungary and invites exceptional researchers from across the European Union to join our team. We are recruiting at three levels: Senior Researcher, Researcher (Mid-Level), and Junior Researcher.

Available Positions

Senior Researcher

Required Skills and Profile

  • Advanced academic qualification (Master’s minimum) in a relevant field such as international relations, political economy, technology governance, public health policy, future studies, or related interdisciplinary areas.
  • Significant professional experience working on themes aligned with the Centre’s priorities, particularly artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, geopolitical economy, or the intersection of health, pandemics, demographics, and global transformation.
  • Strong intellectual flexibility and openness to interdisciplinary work, with demonstrated curiosity about future-oriented scientific and technological developments.
  • Proven ability to lead research initiatives, manage projects, and mentor junior researchers.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and institutional representation skills.
  • Must be professionally based within the European Union.

 

Role Scope — What They Will Do

  • Lead research initiatives and contribute to shaping the Centre’s forward-looking intellectual agenda.
  • Combine academic research with managerial responsibilities, including coordinating research activities, mentoring team members, supporting partnerships, and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Represent the Centre in academic, institutional, and international discussions and collaborative initiatives.
  • Ensure quality, coherence, and originality of research outputs while encouraging innovative thinking across teams.

 

 

Researcher (Mid-Level)

Required Skills and Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s advantageous) in a relevant discipline, with demonstrated interdisciplinary openness.
  • Professional experience engaging with topics connected to emerging technologies, geopolitical economy, future sciences, or health and demographic transformations.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and conceptual thinking abilities combined with curiosity about evolving global trends.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-office research teams.
  • Must be professionally based within the European Union.

 

 

Role Scope — What They Will Do

  • Conduct independent research while contributing to collaborative projects across the Centre’s offices.
  • Develop analyses, reports, and publications addressing emerging global issues and future-oriented themes.
  • Participate in idea generation, thematic development, and research discussions that shape institutional outputs.
  • Support partnerships, events, and intellectual exchanges within European and international research networks.

 

Junior Researcher

Required Skills and Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree required in fields such as political science, economics, international relations, technology studies, public health, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated academic or early professional exposure to themes aligned with the Centre’s research focus, including AI governance, geopolitics, demographic change, health transformations, or future studies.
  • Strong curiosity, openness to interdisciplinary learning, and interest in emerging sciences and future global developments.
  • Good writing ability, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must be professionally based within the European Union.

 

 

Role Scope — What They Will Do

  • Support research projects through literature reviews, data collection, drafting assistance, and idea development.
  • Contribute to reports, events, and research activities while developing independent analytical capacity.
  • Engage in exploratory research on emerging topics and assist in tracking future-oriented developments.
  • Grow progressively into more independent research responsibilities within the Centre’s collaborative environment.
