Job Posting: Political Researcher Position: Full-Time Researcher, Political Studies Unit

Al Habtoor Research Centre (AHRC) is seeking a qualified political researcher to join the Political Studies Unit. The ideal candidate will be proficient in scientific research skills and political analysis, with a thorough understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and foresight techniques. This is a full-time position based at AHRC headquarters, where the researcher will be an integral part of the AHRC team, collaborating to produce high-quality research and studies that support AHRC’s objectives.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in developing studies, policy papers, reports, analyses, and various research documents following scientific research methodologies and standards.
  • Participate with the team, conducting in-depth research on political issues, international interactions, and current and future security challenges. This research will focus on unconventional dimensions and angles, leveraging the researcher’s skills in inference, extrapolation, and prediction.
  • Monitor, cover, and analyse the impact of new events, developments, and political interactions on the present and future political landscape.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative analysis methods to interpret and analyse data, draw conclusions, formulate policies, and provide practical recommendations to decision-makers.
  • Prepare comprehensive research reports and presentations for various research outputs.
  • Represent the centre at internal and external events and meetings.
  • Perform other research and administrative tasks assigned by the centre’s senior management.


The applicant must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, or a related field.
  • Have an average of five years of experience in research or a related field (such as think tanks, research centres, and academic institutions).
  • Be proficient in Arabic and English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Be skilled in scientific research methodologies and risk anticipation techniques.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of political, economic, and social interactions at regional and global levels.
  • Possess strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Be capable of multitasking and performing well under pressure.
