AHRC is seeking a proactive and analytical Early Warning Researcher with strong foresight capabilities to join its dynamic Early Warning Unit. This position is ideal for candidates with a background in either political science or economics who are eager to work at the intersection of research, risk analysis, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze political, economic, and security trends.
  • Produce timely reports, policy briefs, and foresight papers in both English and Arabic.
  • Contribute to futures research by identifying weak signals, megatrends, and potential disruptions.
  • Produce well-researched policy briefs, analyses, foresight papers, and reports.
  • Support the design and facilitation of scenario planning workshops, foresight simulations, and stakeholder dialogues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to update and enhance the Centre’s early warning frameworks.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives and contribute to publications and multimedia outputs.
  • Present findings to internal stakeholders, policy audiences, and media when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, or a related field (required).
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in research, risk analysis, foresight, or policy planning.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise analyses.
  • Strong command of English and Arabic writing and communication.
  • Familiarity with political economy and geopolitical dynamics.
  • Experience using foresight tools and frameworks (e.g., scenario planning, Delphi, trend mapping).
  • Experience working in a think tank, international organization, or government agency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with data visualization tools or databases is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience publishing policy briefs or academic articles.
